Soothing Yogurt and Honey Face Wash

This recipe is perfect for right before bed to cleanse, calm and moisturize your skin giving you an all-over soothing atmosphere. While you sleep is prime time for your skin and whole body to heal and rejuvenate so it’s important you end your day with a nourishing and soothing face wash. The lavender in this recipe helps to calm not only the appearance of your skin by reducing redness, but also your mind and body. Be sure you take nice deep breaths while applying this wash, inhaling the calming properties of the lavender and exhaling any stresses or impurities that have built up throughout the day. The lavender is great to help you wind down and prepare for sleep. Manuka honey or raw local honey has antibacterial properties which cleanses without stripping your skin of its natural oils. The yogurt is a great moisturizer, and gentle exfoliator due to the lactic acid, and will leave a soft dewy glow on your skin after being washed off. This is perfect to let absorb overnight to wake up to your skin well nourished and delightfully softened; nothing seems to work as well to soften skin as yogurt does. The combination of the yogurt, honey and lavender all helps to reduce redness and overall inflammation. Perfect for all skin types, but especially great for sensitive or dry skin. Enjoy! What You’ll Need
- 1 tsp organic plain yogurt (you don’t want to be rubbing sugar all over your face; try homemade if possible)
- 1 tsp raw organic (local if possible) honey, or manuka honey
- 1 drop lavender essential oil, optional
What to Do:
- Mix all ingredients together and apply all over face. Massage onto face in circular motions using the tips of your fingers for 1-2 minutes. Wash off with cool water.
Note: If you have the time, feel free to use this as a mask and let sit on your face for up to 30 minutes. I’ve read here that yogurt helped this person’s inflammation reduce even more if left on for longer.
