Revitalizing Body Butter

By Tia Ohm

I don’t know about you, but in the winter my skin gets dry. And I don’t mean just a little flaky; it gets cracked and painful when the weather starts to drop, and I need something to replenish it every day. Of course, using just coconut oil works great as I have said in my previous post here, but when you whip it, and add some drops of essential oils, it is no longer just oil for lathering, but a smooth and fluffy butter that does not leave a thick layer (of what seems like wax) on your skin. I experimented by adding vitamin E for more beneficial properties, and beeswax because I love the stuff; but feel free to play around with it. Add other oils, cocoa butter, or shea butter for various consistencies and benefits. Have fun with this, and enjoy!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil, at room temperature
  • 1 T beeswax, melted
  • 15-20 drops of essential oils of your choice – we used jasmine and lavender (optional)
  • 2 tsp vitamin E oil
  • hand mixer

What to do:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sized bowl, including the melted beeswax, and blend with a hand mixer for about 5 minutes or until mixture is smooth.
  2. Store in a small jar. (Does not have to be refrigerated)

This recipe makes just over 4 oz of moisturizer
