PATHWAYS CONTRIBUTOR
As a teen, Bob Webb’s formal education was a disaster. Webb served with the U.S. Marines in Japan, who assigned him to the machine shop. With a shop manual as his only guide, he discovered his talent for self-education, and became a journeyman machinist, eventually working for the Panama Canal Company, where he continued to grow and learn new skills. Since his retirement, Webb has received his captain’s license for tall ships and become a dive boat captain. He now lives in Goose Creek, South Carolina, and promotes motivational techniques for at-risk youth in the maritime world.
